Le Tour Yorkshire Stage 1: East Riding

Le Tour Yorkshire is coming through our area! Stage 1 (Doncaster to Selby) is 2nd May 2019. PLEASE NOT ROAD CLOSURES.

On Thursday, 2 May, stage one of the men’s race will start in Doncaster and cyclists, including the four-time Tour de France and double Olympic bronze medallist Chris Froome, will make their way through the East Riding to the finish line in Selby. It is expected thousands of spectators will line the route of the 178.5km stage, which will take in some villages and communities for the first time. The peloton will go through:

  • Snaith
  • West Cowick
  • East Cowick
  • Rawcliffe
  • Airmyn
  • Howden
  • Gilberdyke
  • Scalby
  • Newport
  • Ellerker
  • Brough
  • Elloughton (sprint)
  • Welton
  • Melton
  • Swanland
  • North Ferriby
  • Skidby
  • Little Weighton
  • Walkington
  • Beverley (all riders will pass through North Bar)
  • Leconfield
  • Beswick
  • Kilnwick
  • Middleton-on-the-Wolds
  • North Dalton
  • Cote de Baggaby Hill (King of the Mountains stage)
  • Pocklington (sprint)
  • Barmby Moor
  • Sutton upon Derwent.

The men’s race is due to reach Howden at approximately 2.20pm, Beverley 3.40pm and Sutton upon Derwent around 4.45pm.

There will be rolling road closures along the route on Thursday, 2 May and they are expected to last no longer than around 40 minutes. The market place in Pocklington will be the focus of a number of events to celebrate the Tour de Yorkshire and so will be closed between 1pm and 6pm while St Helen’s Square in Barmby Moor will also be closed between 2pm until 10pm for their celebrations to take place.

On Saturday 4th May the tour moves to Bridlington.
