A fun filled event has been organised for Monday, 29 October to celebrate Withernsea’s unique exciting new Fossil Trail, which has been installed on the promenade.
Starting at 11 am, activities will include a fossil walk, fossil hunt, fossil display, treasure hunt, Active Coast activities (sand drawing, stone art and stacking, beach crafts), Go Karts and special bikes on the Promenade. Find out more at Pier Towers.
Withernsea Fossil Trail, a part of the Withernsea Seafront Improvement Plan, has been funded by East Riding of Yorkshire Council. The trail sees eleven distance marker posts made out of reclaimed ‘groynes’ from the old sea defences, placed every 200 metres (a furlong) along the promenade in both directions from Pier Towers. Each post has a marker plaque showing an image of one of the types of fossils that can be found on Withernsea beach.
