Family Activity Trails Hull & Withernsea – University of Hull & Team GB

June 24, 2023 - June 25, 2023

Meet 2 Olympic champions at the launch of a new University of Hull and Team GB project in Hull and Withernsea!

The project is launching Team GB Family Activity Trails as a way of getting people out and walking in their local outdoor nature spaces!

But this isn’t an ordinary walk – on your route, keep an eye out for Team GB signposts. Once you spot a post, use a smart phone to scan the QR code, and you will unlock a challenge to try out! It could be an activity based on Olympic sports, a physical activity game, a nature activity, or a brain game. The idea is to make exercising a simple but enjoyable experience for the whole family.

To celebrate the start of the project, the University will be hosting two launch events, one in Hull and one in Withernsea. –

  • Saturday 24th June 2023: Victoria Dock Park, Hull, 11am to 3pm
  • Sunday 25th June 2023:, Valley Gardens, Withernsea, 11am to 3pm

Joining us at the events will be two gold-medal winning Team GB athletes: Rower Mohamed Sbihi and modern pentathlete Kate French! They will lead a fun family warm up before heading out on the walking trail with you. Once you get back, look out for any drawing or exercise challenges, get a free Team GB face paint, and meet an Olympic athlete! There will also be Team GB prizes to win!

Join us at 11am or 1pm to take part in the trails alongside the Olympic athletes!

This is a great chance to get outside with your family and try out the new trails. The event is free and is open to all!

In Hull, there is a walking route that starts and ends at The Deep, and takes walkers around the nature spaces of Victoria Dock, with 13 signposts to find.

In Withernsea, there will be 4 routes of different lengths to suit everyone’s needs. The trails will take you around the promenade, streets, and parks of Withernsea, with 21 signposts around the town to look out for!
