An event offering information and support about learning disabilities and autism will take place at the Bonus Arena in Hull on Thursday, 14 February from 10am-4pm.
Differently Abled is a large accessible market place event with over 200 stalls and services that offer people a range of support and advice.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Carers Support Service staff will be on hand to offer advice and information and there will be four zones of support around the room:
Information zone
Learn about day services for all ages, social activities, benefit advice, assistive technologies, employment, housing and transition services.
Health zone
Get your blood pressure and weight checked, speak to nurses and professionals about health problems such as epilepsy and cancer, discuss medication and speak to a dentist.
Communication zone
Visit our autism and dementia simulation experiences, speak to speech and language therapists, use Eye Gaze equipment and discover what makes a communication-friendly environment.
Carers zone
Find information on caring for someone who is Differently Abled, and book in for a carer assessment.
Everyone is welcome to attend the event, which takes place at the Bonus Arena, Myton Street, Hull HU1 2PS (next to Prince’s Quay).
