Parents and carers looking for ways to keep their children entertained this summer should look no further than East Riding #SchoolsOut, packed with ideas and activities to keep children of all ages and abilities active during the six-weeks holidays. For parents of children with a disability, there will be a number of activities that they too can take part in.

The Freedom Festival is back for Summer 2023 and runs from 30th August to 3rd September 2023, around Hull city centre and the marina, with lots of family friendly shows and events.

There is something for everyone this Summer at Hatfield Outdoor Activity Centre in Doncaster, the number one place for those seeking fun in the great outdoors!
We host a range of water-based activities on our very own lake, including kayaking, canoeing and stand-up paddleboarding. We also have an inflatable Aquapark, which has recently expanded and is now open for bookings. You can also enjoy a swim in our natural lake pool, the newest addition to our growing number of water activities.
For those who prefer to stay dry, you can challenge yourself to reach new heights on our 14-metre-high climbing wall; we have plenty of aerial challenges and obstacle courses for you to complete off the ground. If you prefer to keep your feet on the ground, you can find your thrills at an axe-throwing or archery session. You can learn how to throw axes at a target and how to use a bow safely. Axe-throwing is available to book now and archery will be available very soon.

Yorkshire Balloon Fiesta is well known for being the ultimate weekend of sensational live music, family entertainment and hot air balloons. This year, they have announced some incredible artists including Sam Ryder, Ella Henderson, Toploader, Blue, Joel Corry, Diversity, Sister Sledge and many more.
This family festival will also host some popular children’s entertainers too – including Andy & The Odd Socks, YolanDa’s Band Jam, Brainiac Live, Justin Fletcher, Dick & Dom and Cosmic Kids Yoga.

Local 2023 Scarecrow Festivals running throughout the Summer, all free to go along and spot some scarecrows!

This free, annual challenge encourages children aged 4-11 to keep reading during the summer holidays. This year’s theme is about games and sports, delivered in partnership with the Youth Sports Trust. Participants will join the fictional team (and their animal mascots) as they use their skills to weave their way through a summer obstacle course. Register to take part at your local library from 8th July – all participants get a free poster, stickers and incentives and them get reading.
The East Riding Summer Reading Challenge Mini-Read: a series of storytimes designed for children under 4 years old. Older children can also attend, especially if they have a younger sibling taking part. You get your own special collector’s folder and stickers to collect each week. Join us to complete the mini-read to win a gold medal sticker and certificate. Stories include Spinderella, Leilong’s Tool, Jump for the Stars, Luna Loves to Dance, The Burpee Bears, Dinos Don’t Give Up. No need to book, just drop in.
