Here’s some handy links and top tips from the Hull City Council Pubic Health Team to help keep little ones safe:
Be a savvy shopper
- If the price sounds too good to be true it probably is
- Look for CE mark and Lion Mark which are good indicators of a toys safety…but they can be faked
- Buy age appropriate toys – look for the warning symbol
Keep small objects out of reach…
When you’re little, everything is a toy and often goes in the mouth including:
- Button batteries
- Small pieces from a siblings game
Yummy edibles…
- We can let our guard down if we’ve had a drink – children will ‘mop up’ drinks left unattended
- Children can find peanuts and sweets they could choke on
- Visitors might not think about what they have brought in their bags…many tablets look like sweets
