We had an absolutely fantastic day out at Woldies this Summer, I cannot recommend it enough! The lavender and nature farm is located between Malton and Scarborough and took us an hour to get there from Willerby. We went a few years ago but it has had so much added to it in recent years, you can easily spend a full day there. It’s a perfect day out for grandparents too, we took my mum and all 3 generations really enjoyed it – she commented on how many benches there were for her to sit on while the kids played and how safe she felt with them there.
It’s suitable for all ages, babies to teens. There are nature trails, gardens, play areas, mazes and so many different games and activities, all based in nature and in such a beautiful setting amongst the lavender fields. It felt peaceful and we also learned a lot, it’s just a lovely place to spend a day together.
Open daily 1st July to 8th September 2024. Explore and play outdoors together at Woldies.
We visited Williams Den at May half term with a 4 year old and newborn. It was a mixed weather day but there was so much to do inside that we hardly had time to explore outside. My 4 year old daughter is a big Spiderman fan and loved finding and climbing all of the webs. I loved watching her pluck up the courage to brave it across the rope bridge on her tummy and seeing her face light up when she discovered the indoor treehouse. Her favourite thing of all was “the whizzy slide that went down into the sand pit” but there was so much we didn’t even get around to doing today.
I’m actually considering getting a William’s Den Summer Pass that we can use in the Summer holidays because it’s somewhere that will tire out my energetic four-year-old and is easy to take my baby in the buggy or sling. Plus, the cafe serves fantastic food. Williams Den gets a massive thumbs up from us!

Piglets Adventure Farm near is near York, located on the outer ring road not far from the A1079 and easy to get to. It’s ideal for a midweek visit with tots or at weekends for school age children. We visited on a term time Friday with a pre-schooler and baby. The bits that stood out to me were –
The colourful bouncy pillows, something we haven’t seen anywhere else, my daughter had so much fun jumping around on them.
The speaking Wise Old Owl was another big hit and sent her into the world of make-belief fun.
She loved searching for fairies and passing through the troll’s house, where she spotted troll clothes hanging up and troll art work on the walls. There’s even a doorbell you can press to hear the voice of the troll, which really played into my daughter’s imagination! Further along we heard some fairies talking from inside a tree, which was magical for her.
After the trail, we did the obstacle course, played crazy golf and had a go on the go-karts.
We also had a ride on the tractor trailer which took us to the indoor play barn. There’s a long wavy slide and huge sand play area, which my daughter was happy to do her thing in while we enjoyed a coffee.

We LOVED this day out! Located off Annie Reed Road in Beverley, upstairs is a role play centre, downstairs is a large soft play centre. It’s not just Mumbler who love it – Jack in the Box has just won Best Role Play Centre in the UK at the Association of Indoor Play’s awards!!

A good one for older children, we took two 9 year olds and two 13 year olds for an hours play in the games arcade located inside St Stephens shopping centre Hull. You buy a games card at the desk and its pre-loaded with credit, which you just tap on the games you want to play. This saves feeding lots of £1 coins into arcade machines and spending a fortune! A good pit stop if you are in the city centre with children, it breaks up a shopping trip well. No need to book, just drop in.
