Covering Hull and East Riding, this established method is now introduced as a bespoke one-to-one tuition service, and is a valuable addition to the area’s educational offering.
The Reading Doctor specialises in helping children overcome reading challenges, using proven methods tailored to each child’s needs. By focusing on the root causes of reading difficulties, The Reading Doctor offers personalised programmes that make learning to read easier and more effective. Our approach combines cognitive science with practical strategies, ensuring that every learner can unlock their reading potential.
Sessions take place at The Reading Room, 656 Beverley Road Hull, or at your child’s school, with their permission. Sessions can also be conducted online.
We begin with an in-depth initial assessment, which helps us to establish your child’s strengths and gaps. Afterwards, you will receive a full written report with recommendations for further support.
Then the fun begins! If you choose to take up regular sessions following your initial assessment, we start working to close those gaps in your child’s reading knowledge. Each session follows a set sequence but within that there is lots of room to adapt to your child’s learning needs. The Reading Room is fully resourced and caters to multisensory and neurodivergent learning needs. You will be given your own book bag and a heap of resources to support your reading journey at home, including a log in to the excellent online platform Reading Eggs.
