Crafty Cat Events in Anlaby (formerly Deliciously Crafty) have LOADS of children’s and family craft sessions starting. We popped along to try their after school craft session, for ages 7-12, and to find out all about the other workshops and craft sessions they have coming up…..
My 7 year old daughter is really crafty and there is regularly glitter and glue around our house, so I took her after school to try the Creative Crafters session. There are other weekly sessions for ages 2-4 and 4-6 during the week too:
Also weekly, they run a Play Cafe on Monday and Wednesday all day for you to use the cafe and play area, and have a Public Cafe on Friday 10am – 6pm.
There is a car park behind the building, or we parked easily on the main road. The new cafe is lovely, a great selection of crafts laid out ready next to the craft tables, then a few quieter tables inside. They sell hot, cold and alcoholic drinks and snacks, and have a lovely baby area at the back where babies and tots can play.
We were making a ‘bouncing bunny’, a very simple but effective item using paper cups and elastic bands as ‘launcher’s. My daughter really enjoyed choosing items to use, colours and making her rabbit, staff were on hand to help throughout. She also asked for a hot chocolate to drink while she waited for the paint to dry and it was a very good one. They do a different theme/activity each week, slime week is coming up and she has asked to go back for that! The session lasted 1.5 hours (which flew by) and was £10, including all materials and item to take home.
We had a lovely time and we will certainly be back again soon. It’s a great resource to have locally and good to do a different activity (its usually just sports that we do after school or at weekends), to learn something and it was a nice break from being on tech too!
While my daughter was busy crafting I chatted to owner Emma about what else they do…..
Upcoming family events:
For October half term they have:
For Christmas they have family craft workshops, and a Santa’s Grotto!!
They have a range of children’s parties and themes, from Unicorns & Rainbows to Minecraft! They provide the crafts, you can bring your own food or they can supply that too.
Or why not hire them as a venue for a baby shower, hen do or community group. They can also come to you as an outreach event, ideal for groups such as Brownies and Beavers.
