The Humber Bridge Soapbox Derby – an annual race for amateur teams. 10am-3pm. A family friendly event for homemade soapbox carts – also known in the Hull area as “bogeys” – which race from the Humber Bridge toll booth plaza down into the car park to be met spectators. Calvert Lane Hull Fire Station Open Day. 11am – 5pm. Visitors can meet the crew and discover the state-of-the-art rescue equipment used in emergency situations. The event will also feature live rescue drills, where visitors will see first-hand the skills and techniques employed by firefighters during rescue operations. There will be plenty of fun activities for all ages, along with food and refreshments available throughout the day. HU4 6BJ
Race the Waves, an internationally recognised vintage motoring spectacular, will bring high-octane drag racing back to Bridlington’s South Bay. This year’s event will run from Thursday 12 to Sunday 15 June 2025, with the highlight being two days of beach racing in South Bay on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 June 2025. Free, just pop along and watch.
Biting Point, from Middle Child Theatre, tells the story of two people who spend their working days stuck in traffic, until an accident near the Humber Bridge turns their lives upside down. The show has an age guidance of 14+ so is a good one to see with friends or if you have an older teen. The play immerses audiences in the characters’ world, by wearing headphones to experience dialogue. It will visit Flemingate car park in Beverley from 12th-15th June, (also South Promenade seafront in Bridlington 19th-20th June). Book on their website now.
Parkway Cinema on Flemingate Beverley have Little Penguins. A weekend screening for little ones and their grown ups, Saturday and Sunday mornings, £4 per ticket, this weekend is Finding Nemo (U). Saturday 14th June 11.10 and Sunday 15th June at 11.20.
Sledmere Deer Safari!
Sat 14th and Sun 15th June, 10am-4.30pm. A special opportunity for the whole family to tour the Deer Park and see some of the Red Deer and their calves, up close in their natural habitat. Jump on those tractors and trailers for an awe-inspiring visit to see their beautiful herd of Red Deer and their newborns. Book in advance to guarantee a slot.

Running from now until the 16th June is the West Hull Villages Scarecrow Hunt. Find the interactive map and tick sheet here, or just head off for a walk around Anlaby, Willerby, Kirkella and see what you spot! We will be doing this with our dad, combined with a cafe or pub stop too!

Celebrating Dads Event – A free event from Homestart Hull to promote services that dads can access with or for their children at every stage of development through the first days, into early years, childhood and up into teens. Family Walk or Bike Ride: We have lots of great places to go locally for a walk or cycle – we have the river, the coast, the countryside, and in Hull city centre around the marina always makes a nice walk (with a stop for a beverage on Humber Street!).
