Theme Parks

There are some theme parks a short drive from Hull and East Yorkshire.

Alton Towers & CBeebies Land

Approx 2 hours drive from Hull but well worth a visit (have several hotels on site to stay over in and run deals for 1 night and 2 days park tickets). The main theme park Alton Towers has a few rides for younger children plus a lot for older children. CBeebies land is perfect for under 5s with lots of nice rides, shows and things to see and do. Also a crazy golf and waterpark in the Splashlandings hotel.

Flamingo Land

A good family day out with lots to do. Many rides and areas suitable for young children, lots of outdoor play areas and a large zoo. Cafes get busy but lots of picnic areas to take your own food in. During the Winter Season, from November onwards the zoo is open to the public for a discounted price, no rides are open, but some of the areas are still accessible. There is also a caravan park on site to extend your stay. Approx 1 hours drive from Hull.

Gulliver’s

Gulliver’s is the best young child’s theme park Mumbler has been to, lots of rides aimed at the under 5s, but also many suitable for up to teen. Various lands to explore, rides and activities. 3 sites nearby:

  1. Matlock Bath. Temple Walk, Matlock Bath, Derbyshire, DE4 3PG. 01925 444888, approx 1 hour 45 minute drive from Hull. Built up a steep hill so hard to get a pushchair around but beautiful views and a great theme park. A beautiful part of the Peak District, the town is worth a visit too (a bit like Scarborough without the sea!)
  2. Rother Valley. Mansfield Road, Sheffield, S26 5QW. 01925 444888, approx 1 hour drive from Hull. The newest resort, recently opened.
  3. There is also a Gulliver’s in Warrington, Cheshire.

Open weekends only from the end of March and daily in the school holidays. Closed from November to March except for Christmas special days.

Gulliver’s Valley Resort

Gulliver’s Valley Resort is one of the UK’s newest theme parks having opened in 2020. Discover rides and attractions designed for children aged 2 to 13, located next to Rother Valley Country Park in South Yorkshire. Enjoy a giant selection of adventures as you travel through multiple themed areas including The Lost World of Living Dinosaurs. Want to enjoy theme park entry with your short break? Lightwater Valley

Large theme park with areas suitable for all age children, outdoor rides including water themed rides, Jurassic adventures and indoor play areas for toddlers. Just under 2 hours from Hull.

Open from 10am, check website for days open and closing times – usually closed from November through to March, but open for Easter holidays, weekends and Summer holidays (open every day in July and August).

Wheelgate Theme Park

Great theme park for young children. Lots of small rides (all suitable for under 5s), large outdoor play areas, indoor play zone and animals. Open daily from 10am. Located in Sherwood forest aproximately 1 hour 20 minute drive from Hull.
