The annual event is brought to you by the Northern Kite group and North Yorkshire Council.
Attracting some of the UK’s best kite flyers, this unique festival takes place over two days and showcases some of the brightest and most extravagant kites.
In previous years there have been flying clownfish, huge pandas, octopuses and snakes on display over Yorkshire coast skies. There’ll be a huge variety of kites to delight all ages.
And this year the event features renowned kite flyer Josh Mitcheson who specializes in flying dual line and quad line kites, with a particular focus on freestyle and precision flying. His demonstrations range from individual flying to pair and team performances.
For the first time the Kite Festival is partnering this year with Filey Food and Drink Festival showcasing the very best of Yorkshire food and drink as well as fantastic produce from outside the region. There are a wide variety of stalls with many tempting food and drink delights available.
Weather dependent, there will also be a teddy bear drop. Bring your favourite teddy along to the commentator gazebo (12 noon to 1 and 2-4pm on both days) and your teddy will receive a special certificate for being brave.
Taking place at Filey Brigg Country Park on the stunning headland of Filey Brigg this is the perfect location for kite flying with spectacular views across Filey Bay.
Taking place on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 September, from 10am to 4pm, the event is free to attend. The event is dog friendly. There’ll also be children’s fairground rides.
