Hull Lights Switch On, Queen Victoria Square, Hull City Centre. Thursday 21st November 2024.
Christmas lights will be switched on by the city’s very own rugby league star and 2024 Steve Prescott (MBE) Man of Steel, Mikey Lewis. Hull KR half-back Mikey will join the Lord Mayor Councillor Mark Collinson and a special guest direct from the North Pole to get the festive period underway.
Entertainment will get under way in Queen Victoria Square at 5.30pm, with DJ Darren Lethem taking the reigns as host on Hull City Hall balcony to introduce a host of live performers from State of the Arts Academy. Mikey, Lord Mayor and Father Christmas will switch on the lights at 6.45pm, complete with a firework display (weather dependent) over Queen Victoria Square.
At the centre of the event, a 50ft Norwegian Spruce, sponsored by KWL, will be lit for the first time.
The event kicks off the festive season in Hull with Christmas markets in the city centre every weekend starting Saturday 23 November until Saturday 21 December 2024.
