Heritage Open Weekend – Free Open Venues in Hull

September 7, 2018 - September 9, 2018

There are lots of historic buildings in Hull open this weekend for the annual national event, Heritage Open Weekend. All free admission:

  • Blaydes House – 6 High Street, Hull, HU1 1HA. 7th, 8th and 9th September 10am-4pm, house will be open to look around, guided tours on demand no need to book.
  • BBC Tours – Queens Court, Dock Street, Hull, HU1 3RH. 8th and 9th September, tours running hourly, must be pre-booked on 01482 323232, suitable for children aged 7+ only.
  • Carnegie Heritage Centre – 342 Anlaby Road, Hull, HU3 6JA. 7th and 8th September 10am-3.30pm, open to look around.
  • Charterhouse Capel and Gardens – Charterhouse Lane, Hull, HU2 8AF. 8th and 9th September 12-5pm, open to look around.
  • Christopher Pickering’s House – 114 Coltman Street, Hull, HU3 2SF. 8th September, gardens and house open 11am-4pm to look around.
  • Explore Garden Village – The Clubhouse, Elm Avenue, Hull, HU8 9PZ. 8th and 9th September 11am-4pm, guided tours at 1.30pm or pick up an illustrated booklet to walk round with at any time.
  • Hull New Theatre – Kingston Square, Hull, HU1 3HF. 7th September 10.30am and 12noon. Hull City Hall – Victoria Square, Hull, HU1 3RQ, 7th September at 1.30pm. Tours must be pre-booked on 01482 300306 or at the box office.
  • Hull History Centre – Worship Street, Hull, HU2 8BG. 7th September, tours at 10am, 11am, 12noon, 2pm, 3pm. Need to book, call 01482 317500.
  • Hull Minster – Trinity Square, Hull, HU1 2JJ. Open throughout the weekend to look around.
  • Scale Lane Bridge – Hull, HU1 1QJ. The bridge will be rotated on 8th September 3pm and 4pm and 9th September 10.30am and 11.30am.
  • Hull Truck Theatre – Ferensway, Hull, HU2 8LB. 8th September open from 8.45am. Please pre-book tours on 01482 323638.
  • Jubilee Central – 62 King Edward Street, Hull, HU1 3SQ. 8th September 11am-4pm, open to look around plus pop up cafe and bouncy castle.
  • Museums – Maritime, Streetlife, Wilberforce House Museum open all weekend, Hands on History on the 8th September 12-4pm, Spurn Lightship 9th September 11am-4.30pm. Ferens Art Gallery also open all weekend.
  • The Wilberforce Institure – Oriel Chambers, 27 High Street, Hull, HU1 1NE. Open 8th and 9th Septmeber with tours between 10am and 4pm, no booking required.
  • Rainbow Community Garden – 1 Levisham Close, Hull, HU6 8AB. Gardens open for all to visit 8th and 9th September 10am-3pm.
  • Skt Nicolaj Danish Church – 104 Osborne Street, Hull, Hu1 2PN. Open 7th September 12-4pm and 8th September 12-3pm, learn about the links with Hull to the Dutch and try food/buy Danish goods.
  • Stepney Railway Station House – 183 Beverley Road, Hull, HU3 1TY. 9th September 12-3pm open to explore.
  • Sutton & Wawne Museum – 25 Church Street, Sutton, HU7 4LTL. 7th and 8th September.
  • Victoria Cottage – 23-25 Lowgate, Sutton, HU7 4US. 7th and 8th September 10am-4pm. One of the oldest buildings in Hull, the owner will be on hand to answer questions.
  • The Humber Car Museum – Dalton Street, Cleveland Street, Hull, HU8 8BB. 7th and 9th September 10am-5pm. Open to look around, no booking required.
  • Lots of churches!! Too many to list, check with your nearest if they are open for tours.
