Heads Up Festival: Sponge

March 9, 2018 - March 10, 2018

Hull Central Library, Albion Street, Hull.

Friday March 9th at 10.30am and 1.30pm & Saturday March 10th at 9.45am, 11.45am and 2.30pm

Suitable for 4-month to four years and their accompanying adult. Tickets: £10 (admits one child and one adult). £5 for additional tickets. Adults must be accompanied by children. You can purchase tickets here or through facebook here.

Babies, young children and families are invited to roll, squeeze and pop themselves through a new malleable kind of show, set to an original 1970s-influenced score. In Turned On Its Head’s Sponge, heading to Hull’s Heads Up Festival, two friendly dancers guide the participants, revealing small- and large-scale squishy, squashy environments, fascinating in shape, texture and touch. There’s also the leggy character Splegs, who needs a bit of help walking.

Dance company Turned On Its Head makes exciting participatory theatre for early years, taking children on a creative journey, engaging audiences throughout its performances and encouraging lots of family interaction. Everything in Sponge can be made with simple materials at home so there’s more fun to be had after the show.
