The specially-decorated tour bus, bright red to match Santa’s costume, and covered with dozens of twinkling lights, is now offering visitors and locals the chance to enjoy an unrivalled top deck view of York’s family-friendly sights.
Forget struggling through crowded streets and wasting precious family time queuing in traffic – CitySightseeing York’s Christmas tour bus is here to keep the little ones happy while giving their parents a welcome break from the festive preparations. A festive live guide will entertain with stories of York in Christmases past as you enjoy the seasonal tour.
York’s magical Christmas bus is running every hour through the daytime, seven days a week until Sunday, 22 December 2024, with journeys leaving the tour bus stand at Exhibition Square, opposite Bootham Bar, at 8 minutes past each hour.
City Sightseeing York’s General Manager Adam Emmott says: “Our team can’t wait to welcome you to share a bus-load of festive family fun on our Christmas tour – it’s a cracker of a day out! York is always busy at this time of year, and our Christmas tour is the ideal way for families with young children to take a break from the crowds and relax, as our entertaining guide brings England’s most Christmassy city to life. When it’s chilly outside, you can wait for your sparkling Christmas tour bus in the toasty warm inside our historic Bootham Tower HQ – and we’ll serve you free hot chocolate and a mince pie to keep everyone happy.”
In fact, the CitySightseeing York team have thought of everything – even those who might be finding all the frenetic build-up to the big day just a little too much. Adam says: “Our alternative tour will leave our Exhibition Square tour bus stand at 38 minutes past each hour, and we promise not to utter the word ‘Christmas’, not even once – just the ticket for the Grinch in your family!”
Both tours follow a circular route serving 21 stops, with unrivalled views guaranteed – and if you’re arriving by train, they pick up and drop off in front of the Milner York Hotel, right next door to the railway station.
Better still, all tickets are valid for 24 hours – so if you’re staying overnight in York, you can enjoy a complete tour when you arrive in the afternoon to help you decide where to visit, and then hop on and off the tour bus next morning as a link to York’s many attractions.
