I joined East Riding Leisure last December on their Winter offer and I have absolutely loved it, the offer was great value for money. I feel healthier, fitter and stronger and it’s also been very social. One of the benefits for me is that you can use any of the sites so you can vary where you, so far I’ve been to Beverley and Haltemprice for classes and to use the gym, and I took the kids to Bridlington over the Easter holidays to use the splash pool.
I attend a class once or twice a week (my favourites are Body Pump and Body Combat). Classes are really easy to book via an app or the website, and I’ve started chatting to a few of the other regular class attendees. I have also used the gym and often bump into familiar faces and end up stopping for a chat! But I have worked hard too and I can really see and feel the difference. With the mixture of classes for strength and some cardio in the gym, I feel a lot stronger and fitter.
You also get free swimming and sports courts so I have made the most of that, we love a family game of badminton.
I really like that the classes and gym are full of what I would term normal people. A huge mix of ages, shapes and sizes, and very little designer gym-wear is on show. I have been to other gyms in the past and felt very self conscious surrounded by the gym elite, but I have felt really welcome and very normal at East Riding Leisure in my old running leggings and a baggy T shirt! The staff are always on hand for help and advice too and are very approachable.
There are lots of membership types to suit you, I chose an all access Premier one so I can use the gym and classes at any time so I can slot in a session around work and the kids. My son has football training at Haltemprice so I can drop him at that and get an hour in the gym, or I can get to a class after school drop off. There are other options though with restricted times which are cheaper. My only regret is not finding East Riding Leisure sooner!
