Some of you have been with me from the start, some of you are new to Mumbler, so I thought I’d write a little bit about who I am and how I got here.
I moved to Hull in 2003 – as one of those people who had just planned on passing through but 22 years on I’m still here and wouldn’t dream of living anywhere else.
In 2015 I was on maternity leave from my job with a baby and a pre-schooler, I had no idea where to go or what to do with them. I’d been keeping a list in a notebook of the classes, playgroups, days out and events happening and realised it was a very useful notebook, so I turned it into a website to share all the things to do for families in Hull and East Yorkshire.
Ten years on and its evolved into a hub of what’s on info, aiming to make family life easier for parents, grandparents and carers in East Yorkshire.
The core website sections are
💜weekly what’s on – baby, tots and children’s classes and activities
💜different types of days out
💜family events
💜school holiday ideas
I’m always adding to it – there’s a pregnancy section, kids party ideas and, now we have a puppy, a dog-friendly family places to go! I also do lots of reviews and share useful articles. Please do send me any sections or info you would like to see added.
Everything is on the website, there is also a monthly newsletter that I email out (do sign up if you haven’t yet) and socials for highlights. There are now several Mumbler sites in towns and cities across the country so there’s a whole gang of us.
The first picture is my first ever facebook profile picture, then another profile pic from 2018. The kids jumping off the bench was our first car trip out after lockdown.
Thank you so much to the families who have spoken to me or messaged me over the past few days to thank me for all the things I’ve shared on Mumbler, which have helped them get the best out of family life in our area.
I’ve had an absolute blast over the last decade, getting to know East Yorkshire and all the things to do here with my children. I do feel truly blessed that we have so much going on locally for families. Thank you to everyone who has been on the journey with me. The journey continues – into finding things for me to do with my teens, and keeping doing the baby and children’s stuff with my little nephews and reviewers. Here’s to the next 10 years!
To celebrate my 10 years I held a FREE family fun day with Active+, Little Monkeys Hull on 16th March 2025, with my ‘baby’ who’s now 10 helping run it. Thank you to everyone who came along and helped me celebrate 10 years of Mumbling and thank you to everyone for using the website, reading the newsletter and following the socials.
