Hull City Council

Children, young people and their families in Hull receive an extremely wide range of support from the services commissioned by public health, children and families services and the clinical commissioning group. Examples of these include community nursing, health visiting, safeguarding, school nursing and healthy lifestyle services, which can include asthma care, immunisations and things like healthy cooking on a budget sessions. Those who receive help include children who have complex and long-term needs, looked-after children, all school-age children and children educated at home, missing from education or in alternative education provision.

Older children (11+) can make independent choices about how and when they access support through school pop-in sessions where they have the opportunity to get advice on issues including body concerns, alcohol, sexual health, drugs, bullying, self-harm and other issues around emotional wellbeing.

We’re pleased to sponsor an award which celebrates some of the great work going on in Hull; it’s an opportunity to support a local business and recognise services which make a real difference in the lives of children and young people.

Building Bricks

Building Bricks preschool settings are based in Swanland, South Cave and Anlaby and we provide the wrapround, breakfast and after school care, to the pupils of Hunsley Primary School based in the rapidly developing area of Brough South.

Each setting is unique but all have the same ethos! That is to offer young children a wide variety of opportunities and experiences to become confident, inquisitive and independent leaners on their journey towards full time education.

Our staff teams are made up of well qualified and experienced early years practitioners, many of whom are parents themselves. Each member of staff is allocated ‘key children’ to work with each day. They understand how children learn, what excites and interests them and how learning can be extended and enhanced through a wide variety of stimulating and challenging play-based activities.

Building Bricks Preschool is part of a company called V.I.L.P. Early Years Consultancy Ltd. which was established five years ago, The V.I.L.P. stands for Very Important Little People because at Building Bricks we recognise the importance of helping Little People to make excellent progress during their most formative early years delivered through fun, play-based activities of the highest quality.

We are an NHS organisation consisting of 33 local GP practices with a vision to Create A Healthier Hull now and in the future. The main role of a CCG is to buy and monitor healthcare services for our local population. We are clinically led, which means that local GPs and health professionals direct us. Our clinicians see Hull patients every day and understand what you need, making them ideally placed to make decisions about local care. Our clinicians also work with CCG staff to make sure that local services are providing the best possible care for people in the city.
