We finally finished school for the Christmas school holidays after a very long and tiring week of Christmas nativities/plays/parties/fairs plus my husband being in hospital (nothing serious just a rugby injury and he is home now!) so I wanted to arrange a treat for my 2 kids this weekend.
I’ve met the lovely Jan who runs Dollydaydreams Party Caravan a few times and always really liked the things she does. She brought her party caravan to my last Mumbler fun day in the summer and is going to be at the next one on 3rd Feb, the Winter Mumbler Fun Day, with her indoor sleepover tents and candyfloss.
I’ve always wanted to hire her indoor sleepover tents but we haven’t had any friends for a sleepover. My daughter is 4 so I think she’s too young still and my son is 8 and I can’t think of anything worse having a house full of 8 year old boys overnight! Jan told me about a Christmas special she does where you can hire any number of tents (usual party package is a minimum of 4) so you can simply use them for your own children to have a fun night at home. She dropped me off 2 tents all themed up for Christmas and I was blown away by how magical they looked!
My children were out while she set them up so when they got home I couldn’t wait to take them upstairs to see their treat. We’d just managed to fit in 2 side by side in my sons bedroom. Jan set everything up, there was nothing for me to do. She puts up inflatable air beds covered with lovely themed, fresh bedding with the tent over the top. It was all the little extra touches she brought that made it so special – themed cushions, cuddly toys, bunting, fairy lights, baskets with plates and cups and a little tray table for them to use. Everything we could have possibly needed was there, it looks so festive!
Needless to say my children were delighted, I haven’t seen them this pleased about anything for a long time! I also felt like I had nailed being a parent at that moment too, seeing them so excited and eager to get into them and thanking me for doing this.
They went up to bed early to read a Christmas story in the tents and they chatted together for a bit, then they actually just went to sleep! I thought my two children would mess around and not go to bed but there was something magical about the tents. They’re so cosy with the twinkly lights, my kids snuggled into their own one (and they couldn’t see each other unless they peered out of the end) so they did actually go to sleep really quickly! They even stayed in them when they woke up for a while talking to each other and playing, instead of coming straight in to wake me up!
She did the full set up at our house then returned the next day to take it down and away leaving me no mess whatsoever.
These tents are ideal if you are planning to have a sleepover for some friends, they make a really fun night for a party or special occasion, or just as a treat night for your own children. Jan has been doing these tents for 3 years so is an expert in what children like and want and has a huge amount of sets and props. She has a wide range of themes for general parties such as unicorns, LOL, Greatest Showman and harry Potter plus seasonal themes for 2-3 sibling tents such as Christmas, Easter and Halloween.
